What are you doing with all those mass spectrometers?”by Bill Fitch, Principal Research Scientist, Roche Pharmaceutical Research AbstractThe Roche Palo Alto drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics department has 18 mass spectrometers, 3 for qualitative and 15 for quantitative analysis. We will review the applications of mass spectrometry in drug discovery and especially in DMPK. Specific topics will include metabolite identification, quantitative analysis of drug candidates in vitro and in vivo and an analysis of the new FDA guidelines on metabolites in safety testing. Biographical DetailsBill Fitch is the research leader for mass spectrometry, metabolite identification and profiling in the DMPK department at Roche Palo Alto. His career has focused on applications of mass spectrometry in environmental analysis, agricultural chemical discovery, combinatorial chemistry and pharmaceutical discovery. In addition to his Ph.D., from Carl Djerassi’s group at Stanford, he has been associated with Yale, Syntex, Zoecon and Affymax. |
